Shaddai Berron

Hi! I'm Shaddai Berron, and today I'm going to walk you through on how to draw faces.

Supplies Needed to Draw a Face

You will need:
  • a pencil
  • some paper
  • an eraser
  • a napkin or cloth
  • you will also need a model or photograph as your source

Draw Eyes on the Face

You you've got your oval drawn for your head, split in in half using an vertical line. That way you can lay your features down equally. Next, we'll begin to sculpted and shape by drawing key features into it, starting with the eyes. The eyes are spheres. Though, when cropped by eyelids, they become oval in shape. Also, keep in mind, generally speaking, the space in between the eyes is another eye. When drawing the iris, consider it a circle. however, depending on where your model is looking, it may look like a half circle.

Finish the Face

When drawing the nose, think of the bridge as a long triangle. And the nostrils and tip are a set of three circles. Next we'll draw in a basic mouth by using a simple horizontal line right beneath the nose. Start off with an oval shape. Separate that oval using the horizontal line dividing what would be the bottom lip from the top lip. Keep in mind that the bottom lip is going to be bigger than your top lip. So you don't want the horizontal line directly in the middle. Use shapes that will correspond with your models features.

Drawing is a whole world of trial and error. So just keep in mind that your first piece is not going to be your masterpiece! Thanks for joining us! For more information, please visit us at About.com.
